Risk

Who wants to live, needs to take risk

  • 120 min.
  • From 10 years
  • partly Czech
  • Premiere 17. 1. 2013

The essence of fantasy and freedom of movement, the fight with handicap full of contrasts, colors and emotions. Can risk be addictive? Who is searching for it in life, and who, by contrast, has experienced a risky moment by chance? Who is afraid of risk? What happens to you when you come to an edge? Will you stay on it and continue with the new experience? And if you fall off that edge, will the new life begin from scratch? Is it possible to find freedom, happiness, and euphoria, to be able to laugh and live at one hundred percent?

The performance was created within the project LACRIMAE, which was realized in three regions – Sweden (Cirkus Cirkör), Czech Republic (Cirk La Putyka), and France (Cahin-Caha). The aim was to find new disciplines and use new materials and scenographic-technical approaches. Czech actors and musicians, for the first time in the company's history met on stage with foreign artists. The short film, which divided the production into two parts – one full of ideas about free life and the other one in which freedom is a result of overcoming or developing a handicap – also played a significant role.

"Risk is a performance showing real adventure – a bold and risky one. For me, it represents an important part of European contemporary circus."

– Tilde Björfors (Cirkus Cirkör)
