The new project UP´END´DOWN by the Cirk La Putyka is a follow-up of the previous La Putyka show developing its genre but with one big difference: none of our actors, dancers and athletes was involved with the circus disciplines chosen for the new project (teeter board, cloths, ropes, straps) before the rehearsals for the show began.
The show tells the story of a man living uniquely with his memories. He lives through his flights and falls but is unable to break free from the luggage he carries in himself to live in a relaxed and liberated way. UP´END´DOWN is looking at the journey from birth to death, the journey from the earth to the heaven and back through the prism of our fantasy. A crossroad between two streets, between heaven and earth, between the memories and the present, between smile and tears, taking-off and falling. A crossroad of genres – that’s CIRK LA PUTYKA’s new project.
The project opened on December 19, 2010 at the La Fabrika venue in Prague. The performance is 75 minutes long, without an interval.
“A New Circus poem about people and angels leaves everything Novák produced so far several light years behind. (…) He is a humble author for whom the content and the form are at the foreground rather than shock and self-exhibition. In this way, he’s offering the audience’s senses an outstanding experience while leaving the viewers enough space to enjoy the purely poetical sequences. So we laugh and think, hold our breath and cry; and everything is mixed together in just the right measure.”
